Playlist for Halloween 2021

It's the spooky season!
That means spooky video games. I know, real pioneer stuff.
It's been a slower release year, rona and all, so this year I'll be going over backlog. Stuff I've played, some I've not, some I play every year. Consider it a declaration of intent, and a suggestion to any and all readers.

In no particular order:
-Lost in Vivo. Probably the best Horror FPS you'll ever play. It's a very seamless blend of Silent Hill's atmosphere, with a cross between Doom 3 and Metro 2033's combat. Slow, sometimes unreliable weapons, against horrific creatures, on a quest to save your corgi.

-Dread X Collection, all 4 of them. From a lot of the indie developers who've made games you've surely played, come these 4 collections. Quality of the experiences increases with every release, at a cost of actual scare-factor sadly. That said, all 4 have great, fun and very unique experiences in all kinds of genres. I especially recommend the first and second ones if you want to be scared, the third one if you want the most amusement for your buck, and the fourth one if you're an FPS player like myself.

-Witch Hunt. A supernatural hunting game set in the 1800's. It's the kind of game that bends you over it's knee, breaks your back and then spits in your mouth. Not a fun experience for most people, but if you're into it, it's magical. You're limited by the technology of the era, and are left to reload saves until you understand how a paranormal threat works, and how to best defend yourself against it. A very open game, letting you approach fights and objectives however you want, with whatever you want.

-GTFO, yes, that's the name. 4 player coop survival horror shooter. Another game out to punish you and teach you a lesson in humility. When I say it's 4 player coop, I mean it. This isn't L4D, you will die if you're not working as a team, and god forbid you try to do this solo. You can certainly try, some poor souls do, but few succeed. If you have the stomach for horror and punishment, and 3 other equally tormented souls, give it a shot.

-Swiss Cheese Halloween 2002. A Half-Life mod. Possibly the most Halloween Game I've ever played. It has trick-or-treating, it has festively appropriate enemies and NPC skins, and some really cool levels. Even if you're not a fan of Half-Life, there's something to enjoy here, assuming you own the base game. 100% recommended.

And those should have me covered. What about you, dear reader? Know anything better? Got your own list? Feel free to complain about my lack of taste, and let me know what you'll be playing.

Thank you,
And happy Halloween.
