so!! it's been a minute since i made a blogpost, mainly because i lost a little steam in terms of writing, but also because my life has been a bit eventful this past week and a half! among other things, this past week marks the beginning of my sure to be illustrious vegetable/herb garden!!!! (WOOOO!!)
i am excited to say the least. i've never been much of a outdoorsy person but i really needed a hobby (besides rambling abt anime on the internet) so when i saw that a single avocado at my local grocery store was a whole United States Dollar (and 32 cents!!), well, i thought why not try my hand at growing my own produce :> ever since ive been doing research, gathering supplies, and just recently began germinating a few herbs (my basil and green onions have already sprouted!!). it's been a lot of work and brainpower and mosquito bites but im super super happy with how things r going! i know that gardening is very hard and intense in labor and things can go terribly wrong, but i'm just really happy to have something to focus and direct my energy towards, even if it doesn't work out on the first try.
it's made me think back a little on those posts i used to see abt 'mental health' that would just say 'touch grass, go outside :) just be happy' and i used to be sooo annoyed by them, but damn. of course, there's definitely more nuance to a person's mental health than just going outside but honestly, these past few days of getting a bit of sunlight, running my hands through dirt, idk, i kind of see the point of it all. it's just really fun and, though it's tiring and hard and not everyone can do it, it's also extremely satisfying for those of us fortunate enough to be able to, and it made me feel a lot better in a time where i really wasn't doing too well. so this is my formal apology to those cheesy mental health posts. you were (somewhat) (very vaguely) (not really) right. i should go outside.
seriously, go touch some grass guys. it's definitely worth it lol. i hope anybody reading this (or not) is doing well, and keeping yourself sane :> goodnight friends.
edit: ps by touch grass i actually mean throw some native plants in ur front yard and let that shit grow freely man. the planet will thank u (and i will be your best friend forever) this is a psa lawns r a scam ok bye :3
