A quick story! {Fantasy themed} Part 2

-Part 2, look in blogs for Part 1-

As I rushed through the forest my pace slowed. I started admiring the beauty of the forest, even though I have lived here for millennials, seen the people, creatures, and things here live grow and thrive, it never ceases to amaze me.

I looked down, it seemed the kangaroo rat calmed down as well.

I soon came across a path, following it I came across a rock. Almost tripping over it, I admit.

I quickly balanced myself, being careful of the kangaroo rat in my basket.

The sounds of rushing water catch my attention after I steady myself, I look down at the basket just in time to see the kangaroo rat hop out and onto the rock.

“Hey! Where are you going? Be careful!”

It would hop onto the small ‘step-stool’ of a rock, sitting down and closing its eyes. I took a few steps forward, fixing my skirt while sitting down next to it.

“Are you tired? Just wanting a break?”

It would softly sneeze, slowly getting back up and hopping near the water. It would look around, finding a leaf it would hop to it, picking it and a few pieces of straw-like grass.

It would then come back, sitting next to me. It would work the grass and leaves with its tiny paws into a little bowl, raising it to me as far as it could. I would slowly pick the tiny bowl up carefully and hold it close to my eye, examining it.

“Wow! This is amazing! Can you possibly,” I would chuckle awkwardly, “teach me?”

It would nod quickly, as I lowered the bowl it would grab it, hopping over to the edge near the water. It would slowly lower the bowl into the stream, getting water in the bowl and bringing it back onto the rock.

Then everything froze and my heart sank. I saw in the stream a small shadow, what looks like a weird human with only a shadow for a body with tiny slits for eyes.
