5/11/22 - finally, a cool day

I went a few days without blogging because honestly, nothing really happened that felt like it warranted me writing it down. I'll summarize the last two days like this: I did some cool stuff readying for my job, and now it's set in place and I start on Sunday. I tried going to Special K to find the new Mtn Dew flavor, to no avail. NXT last night was really good, the show was completely woman-centric and it feels like NXT is the only show in the world who can do an entirely female show without it feeling forced. It was great.

Now for today. Last night I just felt exhausted, so I was out by 11pm. That means that I somehow woke up at 5 in the morning today. I had a bowl of Fruity Pebbles, showered, got back in my bed... and eventually fell back asleep. However, after waking up the second time I felt completely refreshed. I woke up that second time and then started watching anime. The new episodes of Tomodachi Game and Spy x Family are so damn good.

A bit later I headed out for the day. First stop was at my new job. I'm going to be a ride operator at the local Six Flags. It's almost like a dream job, I'm very excited. Today I picked up both my uniform and my nametag. On the drive there though, it kind of finally sunk in how much this drive is going to suck every day. I wish I lived closer to the park so I wouldn't have to trek 40 minutes to the place and back so much this upcoming summer.

From there I drove to my college, to drop off textbooks that I didn't realize I rented. After that, I ran off to the town over and ate lunch. Fat Sandwiches are a New Jersey food, where normal sandwiches are loaded with fatty foods that are normally sides. I managed to find a place near my college, so I ordered a sandwich there. Chicken, mozzarella sticks, french fries, and a special sauce. It was really good, and I even got a discount code for $5 off my next order, so I know I'll be back soon. They had their own brand of soda too, which I bought vanilla cream and absolutely loved.

I hit the record store after that, and managed to find a couple little things and one big thing. That big thing is the Beach Boys double vinyl pressing of Carl and the Passions 'So Tough' and Pet Sounds. These records are fairly uncommon since this specific set never got reissued. I fortunately found it for a few dollars less than it goes for online, so I'm really happy about it. It's cool to own 'So Tough' since I was almost contemplating getting it on CD, and this pressing of Pet Sounds is widely regarded as the best sounding version of the album. I'll be sure to spin this thing soon and let everybody know what I think of it.

After that was my radio show. I really don't know what the future of the show will look like, considering my job starting up. I hope I'll still be able to host the show throughout the summer, but I guess it'll depend on my schedule. I arrived at the station an hour early and played a bunch of other music that I like before starting my actual show. I think the show went really well this week, although now it sucks that it's summertime and I have to drive all the way home so late at night.

That's what my day was like, pretty much. These next few days should also be plenty exciting. I'm not sure how much time I'll have to be able to blog, but I'll make sure to tell my stories on here eventually. Song of the day is You Need a Mess of Help to Stand Alone by The Beach Boys to celebrate my good vinyl score.

Love and Mercy,
