Rose coloured glass

I understand rose coloured glass is already a poem I just did my own person kinda story

I have no idea who wrote the original but if you know please tell me and I'll add a lil edit :))

Rose coloured glass

Rose coloured glass filtered my vision up until I was 10.

Keeping me in my own bright, pink world.

The colour didn’t slowly fade as most do, it was taken away.

I never missed it as it cleared my vision and I was finally seeing how the world really was.

When I turned 12 the glass started to fog.

I didn’t reject it, only accepted it as my new rose glass.

Except it wasn’t rose at all.

Unlike the rose-coloured glass, it didn’t keep everything bright and bubbly.

It only made everything hard to see.

I never tried to clear away the fog,

I only navigated my way around blindly.

When I turned 14 I started to miss my rose-coloured glass.

Every night I would beg and plead for it back.

Once I tried to colour in the glass with a rose sharpie,

Which would just wash away in the rain.

That was around that same time my glass shattered.

After that it would only break into small pieces every day.

I gave up trying to fix it and started acting like it was still there.

Behind closed doors I would break down knowing it was all a lie.

My rose-coloured glass was gone and I wasn’t able to replace it.

After a few months of meeting new people,

With some help I was able to build blue coloured glass.

The blue glass makes my world bright and blue,

Without making it hard to see through

Depending on the lighting it can look foggy

But that can be expected from any glass.

Most people have clear glass except for a few foggy spots

Being blind to what they choose not to see.

I like my blue glass as I prefer to see everything with a brighter colour

But that’s just my own opinion :)
