I originally was going to post these every month but that seems untenable, so I guess it's going to be weekly.
How I do it? I listen to EVERY SONG in order, 10/10 means I love each song, and never got bored throughout. All killer, no filler is a 10/10. Strong filler elevates, but having filler at all is a detriment here. For example, a 10 song album with 3 great songs and filler that is okay but not super strong would get a 4 or 5. This is rating ALBUMS as a whole, not songs. All of the reviews are one to three sentences; just one line. I don't want to go into detail because I'm not that skilled. I just feel comfortable giving an overall impression.
My opinion is also 100% right all the time. Especially because I'm not a professional.
Starting from 9/16
Mayday Parade - A Lesson In Romantics: Most of the songs are really strong. 7.5/10
Fall Out Boy - Take This To Your Grave: I just can't. It's okay, I just really don't like it. 2/10
Polkadot Cadaver - Purgatory Dance Party: It all flows pretty well. 8.5/10
Devildriver - The Fury of Our Maker's Hand: Lots of filler; some of it is nice, some is meh. CUT SOME SONGS! 6/10
Papa Roach - Getting Away With Murder: Good singles and decent, not too much, filler. 6.5/10
Metallica - Master of Puppets: Good thrash and acoustic bits, but the rest flows horribly. Some songs overstay their welcome. 6.5/10
Exciter - Violence and Force: Wears itself thin after a while. 8/10
Matchbook Romance - Voices: Not super catching all the time, but the songs are never bad. Maybe a tad too long. 6/10
Sharx - On The Rock: Extremely catchy, every song is golden. 9.5/10
Motion City Soundtrack - Commit This To Memory: Most songs are not very memorable, kinda samey. 4.5/10
The Wraith - Gloom Ballet: Very strong throughout 8.5/10
Nosferatu - Rise: Mostly pretty good, some bouts of great, some decent mire. 7/10
Nitzer Ebb - That Total Age: Really catchy and harsh. 7/10
The Fall of Troy - Doppelganger: It just works. 8/10
Silverstein - Discovering the Waterfront: Filler is okay. Singles are killer. 6.5/10
Strattson - Ouf Metal: Powerful, thrashy, gothic-tinged, a real unknown gem of French metal. 8.5/10
Senses Fail - Let It Enfold You: Each song is quite distinct. 8.5/10
Evanescence - Fallen: It's pretty good for the most part. 6.5/10
Bulldozer - Day of Wrath: I guess it could have been better? But should it? 7.5/10
Boys Like Girls - Boys Like Girls: Middle portion sucks. 6.5/10
The Fall of Troy - Manipulator: Doesn't really hold me; only a few songs do. 4.5/10
Green Day - American Idiot: Mature punk rock that somehow works as a longform. 8/10
Saosin - Saosin: Kinda samey. 7/10
Aus Rotten - The Rotten Agenda: I'm not the biggest fan of the sound. Also pretty undifferentiated. I only like a few moments. 3.5/10
AFI - Decemberunderground: Everything is good, and despite being so varied, is well integrated. 9.5/10
Savatage - The Dungeons Are Calling: I love all of it. 9.5/10
The Cure - Faith: I don't really care for much of it. I don't feel anything for much of the listening. 3/10
Senses Fail - Still Searching: Noisier but not as memorable. 6.5/10
Escape the Fate - Dying Is Your Latest Fashion: I'm not always a fan but I recognize it's good. 8/10
Crass - The Feeding of the 5000: Fully integrated and strong, though one or two songs could've been cut. 9/10
The Adicts - Songs of Praise: Some songs stand out, others don't. When they do hit, they do really well. 7/10
Cursed Moon - Rite of Darkness: 3/10 are covers! lol, but they're good ones, and the rest is good too, but often drags. 7/10
Attack Attack! - Someday Came Suddenly: There's a lot going on. It works. I just don't really remember many of the songs. 6.5/10
Deicide - Deicide: This is what I think of when I think "brutal". Unfortunately wears itself a little thin during the middle, but ends high. 9/10
Deicide - Legion: Middle songs are better; mostly doesn't hit very hard. Being chaotic and heavy is no substitute for impact. 5.5/10
Five Finger Death Punch - American Capitalist: Sometimes cheesy, sometimes the songs don't hit hard. 7/10
Anti-Nowhere League - We Are...The League: All of the songs are great. 9.5/10
