5/6/22 - a pretty cool day

I'm writing this blog the morning after while eating a bowl of Cheerios, but yesterday was long and I had no energy to write anything when the day was over. I do want to talk about my day though, I did a couple cool things/had cool things happen to me, and I wanna put them out to the world.

My current little 'quest' for my life is to clean up my digital footprint. I don't want to spend so much time sucked into apps like Twitter and Instagram, so I've been working to decrease the amount of things I see on those apps. I've kind of accepted that it would probably be hard to quit cold turkey on apps that I use every day, but if I simply lower the amount of posts I see a day, then I'll spend less time on the apps as a result. However, it's gotten really noticeable how ad-filled Instagram has become and it's frustrating. Was anybody else around way back in the day when Instagram had no ads at all? Other than that, I'm trying to clean out my iPhone's Safari tabs. Yesterday morning, I had approximately 300 tabs open. As of right now, that number's down to about 220. I want to continue cleaning through all those tabs until there's none left. Some of them are literally two or three years old at this point, which is nuts.

I finally submitted my job application yesterday. I don't want to talk too much about it so that I don't dox or jinx myself, but I do hope that things work out in that area.

I cooked dinner for my family last night. It was this cool porkchop dish with a mushroom/onion sauce that went over it. I don't even really like mushrooms but it came out really good. I'm also very relieved that it came out good, because I must have spent a good hour and a half cooking that singular meal. That long time is also definitely why I fucked up the side of potatoes. I baked the potatoes in the oven for maybe a half hour, and then had it on "warm" for another hour, and they ended up being very leathery. My family still enjoyed it though, so it all works out in the end.

I spent the majority of last night playing Fortnite with friends. No building has really made the game so much better. We've all found a new area that we quite enjoy dropping at, it has a mini boss fight but when you defeat that boss, you can access a safe with a ton of good loot in it. After a few tries in that area, we managed to get a win! It was a trios game, but it was still the first win I'd ever gotten in Fortnite not counting a 50v50 win from back in 2017/18. I even managed to get the final blow to win us the game (with a sick lightsaber), so I definitely felt cool about getting that win.

I thought that would be it for this blog, but I actually woke up this morning to the best thing out of everything I've mentioned so far. My English essay, which worked as the final exam for the class, got graded. I was worried that I'd get a bad grade and tank my grade, but I got a 98! The best score in the class. I'm finishing that class with an A now, and I'm quite happy about it.

I think it would be fun to attach a song to each of the blogs that I do. Sort of a 'song of the day' type thing. I'm choosing today's song because last night, I convinced my friends to do the 'Beach Boys Heardle,' because none of them listen to the Beach Boys and it drives my one friend crazy when I ask him about it. One of them actually guessed the song in three tries, which definitely surprised me. I actually listen to the Beach Boys though, so I got it in one try. So, because it was a bit of a gag last night and also because I love the song, the "song of the day" is "You're So Good to Me" by The Beach Boys.

Love and Mercy,
theangel
