LETS GET INTO IT YUH
  • Carry On, Simon Snow by Rainbow Rowell
this book was recommended to me by a lovely user over on belletristica by the name of Lyndis. If you wanna look at belletristica, it's a german writing website with a slowly building english community. i had a smol addiction to it in middle school. heres the link:

anyways, this book is part of a trilogy. it's based on another book by the author, fangirl, which will come up next on this list. Here's the book's official desc:
Simon Snow is the worst Chosen One who's ever been chosen. That's what his roommate, Baz, says. And Baz might be evil and a vampire and a complete git, but he's probably right. Half the time, Simon can't even make his wand work, and the other half, he starts something on fire. His mentor's avoiding him, his girlfriend broke up with him, and there's a magic-eating monster running around, wearing Simon's face. Baz would be having a field day with all this, if he were here — it's their last year at the Watford School of Magicks, and Simon's infuriating nemesis didn't even bother to show up.
i dont wanna spoil but... he falls in love with baz. ha.
it gets better in the second book, and then better in the third. but its still absolutely amazing in the first! i totally recommend this book to anyone who likes action and/or romance. it would definitely satisfy either taste. anyways, on to the next!
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
remember how i said CO,SS was based off fangirl? yeah, it's this one. i actually read this one after i finished CO,SS, which was not bad exactly, but i should've read this one first. Fangirl is a favorite of mine because it was one of my first straight romances that didn't have... i think if i say it, ill get banned but its the thing people do to get babies. if you are starving for a clean romance, this is it! anyways, heres the desc:
Cath is a Simon Snow fan. Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan.... But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she's really good at it. She and her twin, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it's what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fanfiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere. Cath's sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can't let go. She doesn't want to. Now that they're going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn't want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She's got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend; a fiction-writing professor who thinks fanfiction is the end of the civilized world; a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words... and she can't stop worrying about her dad, who's loving and fragile and has never really been alone. For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?
Super long desc, right? and this barely encompasses the storyline of the book. ill leave the rest for you to actually read, but this is an amazing book! GO READ IT.
  • The (Un)Popular Vote by Jasper Sanchez
youre probably like, "OH MY GOD SHES FINALLY DONE W RAINBOW ROWELL YAYYY!!!!" right now. and you're right. yay! anyways, this book is a great thing for parents to give to middle school-aged kids, because it talks about transgender and gay visibility positively and helps already trans kids see themselves in a book. its also great because while it talks about serious topics, theres no graphic fighting or any (umm... baby-making tactics?), because the characters are middle schoolers. here's the desc:
Vaseline on the teeth makes a smile shine. It’s a cheap stunt, but Mark Adams knows it’s optics that can win or ruin an election. Everything Mark learned about politics, he learned from his father, the congressman who still pretends he has a daughter and not a son. To protect his father’s image, Mark promises to keep his past hidden and pretend to be the cis guy everyone assumes he is. But when he sees a manipulatively charming candidate for student body president inflame dangerous rhetoric, Mark decides to risk the low profile he assured his father and insert himself as a political challenger. One big problem? No one really knows Mark. He didn’t grow up in this town, and he has few friends; plus, the ones he does have aren’t exactly with the in-crowd. Still, thanks to countless seasons of Scandal and The West Wing, these nerds know where to start: from campaign stops to voter polling to a fashion makeover. Soon Mark feels emboldened to get in front of and engage with voters—and even start a new romance. But with an investigative journalist digging into his past, a father trying to silence him, and a bully front-runner who stands in his way, Mark will have to decide which matters most: perception or truth, when both are just as dangerous.
Anyways, this is a really good book, and I recommend it! READ IT.

well, hats it for now because i like to keep my posts short and this one is already super long. there will most likely be a part two!
