my friend replaced me :(

i play badminton with this dude for like 2 ish year and we've been pretty good friends (im just gonna call him john it easier for me) , lessons have  started again after school holidays finished and alot of people have joined lessons. john became friends with a girl (ill call her Emily) and they chill, and i had my 2nd lesson with him today after holidays and everytime he had to go into groups of 2 i ask him but he acts like he didnt hear me and asks emily. so he does this even before he met emily so i just got use to it. so after that we got into like 3 different groups to do some drills with coaches and its chill but once we finish and we play matches i ask him if he is ok bc he looked injured and he told me that "if there is nothing to talk about, then dont talk to me" and i respected that so i just sat there with him. then the coach comes and asks him if he ok bc he did look injured and he said he just sad bc whenever he goes into the group with the coaches and never gets to be with anyone of his friends, he never gets to talk to ppl then he lists all the times he isnt with his friends and he doesnt mention me. that hurt me alot since we've been friends for 2-ish years and the coach says he try put it with his friends.

i honestly dont know wtf to do bc i thought we were rly good friends.
