Why do so many people hate modern poets?

I absolutely LOVE poetry, and I have for a while, but I've noticed that many people dislike modern poets for no apparent reason. There are plenty amazing modern poets, such as Shane Koyczan, or Rudy Francisco, but a lot of people dislike them for the simple fact that they're a modern artist. This isn't a new concept either. The idea of someone disliking something simply because it's new or modern is much too common. It happens with poetry, art, music, movies, literature, etc. This may simply be a large case of the "born in the wrong generation" mindset, but I'm not sure.
