lightning switch

It has been a day since we've been here at the resort. It's a pretty small area but had all main necessities, like toilets and showers. The sleeping areas were pretty good too. It's nothing luxurious though. I don't say this to be a complete asshole but more because I was more familiar with what I thought were "standard" resorts but were actually high-end ones because I didn't know smaller ones like this existed. The more you know.

I went swimming with my aunt (the one who is not an ass) and it was such a refreshing experience. I sadly didn't get to walk down the beach in the silence of early morning but whatever. It was still fun. The food was amazing too. Her co-workers were amazing cooks. Every bite was a dream. Practically everything was going great until the electricity decided to bail on the entire island. Pitch plack darkness for two hours. At least we got to finish our meals before it went.

The electricity went out after the storm became a bit too intense for its liking. The only light sources we had were the makeshift bonfire the neighboring resort made, our cellphone flashlights, and the horrifyingly beautiful lightning strikes on various surfaces on the island and the sea. None of said strikes hit our hut, thankfully. No amount of interest and curiosity about what would happen exactly if any did could outweigh my current will to live.

Despite the terrifying sight of large forks of pure electricity hitting various surfaces around us, it didn't make the scenery any less beautiful. The way the sky lit up for seconds, with or without the white death spikes was absolutely mesmerizing. Unfortunately, no matter how hard I wanted to document it, my phone camera and actual camera just couldn't do it. Poor lads. I think I've abused them enough for this whole trip.
