Back in February, Pokémon announced that a new limited web series set in the Hisui region was going to release this year. Today they finally revealed the date and title of the limited series. The first episode will premiere on YouTube and Pokémon TV on May 18. And the series, at least in English, will be called Pokémon Hisuian Snow.
The key art they released looks amazing and I can't wait to check out the show.
Honestly as much as I enjoy the traditional anime, Journeys and Master Journeys on Netflix being particular recent highlights, the more non-traditional web stuff they've been doing has been phenomenal. The Evolutions series, their Twilight Wings limited series, and even the older Pokémon Generations stuff were all excellent in their own right.
It just goes to show that there is plenty of space for storytelling within the world of Pokémon, especially if they can move past legacy characters and really explore the space.
