Today I played Night Slashers and the TMNT Arcade Game through MAME. Night Slashers was pretty cool. You get to German Suplex and DDT armless, puking zombies. TMNT is of course, classic. For me to beat these games in the arcade as a kid, would have meant putting in enough quarters into the machines that would have stopped my family eating for a month.
I miss the arcades. We had one in a shitty little mall. The last time I went there, I got in trouble for mashing too hard on WrestleFest. They opened a better arcade in a better mall called Sparkles. I remember getting a turn on either MK III or UMK3 and losing instantly. It was one of those arcades where you would get tokens for crappy prizes. Unfortunately, Sparkles wasn't around for long.
I think there's still an arcade in another shitty mall but I haven't been able to go. Besides that there's the barcade, which I hope to visit again soon. I was a master at TETRIS there until someone spilled beer and broke the joysticks at the bar. Sad.

i would have loved to live in the era where arcades where so prevelant
It was awesome! Although the same mall had some store with a gorilla outside. During Halloween, they had someone wearing the gorilla costume. I probably shit myself. I was scared of it before it moved.
