i figure it'd be nice to start off my blog w some anime/manga recs since thats basically my entire life lol :p so here goes!! (also if anyone knows how to get ur blog layout to match ur profile layout lmk)
1. bungo stray dogs - can't recommend this series enough, it isn't for everyone but it's extremely well written, the illustration is beautiful, and if u love manga that has a really heavy emphasis on human connection and redemption, as well as drama and mystery and comedy, u will love bsd trust me :> the anime is also lots of fun. OH and the light novels!! they are lovely as well.
if you already like bsd... i recommend vanitas no carte and bungo stray dogs: gaiden (of course lol)
2. death note - once again an obvious rec but really this series is so masterful. u likely know what happens already bc its so prevalent (to the point where recommending it is kinda silly but i want to talk abt it >.<) but no matter what u know, reading it just keeps you hooked all the way through. the art is gorgeous (how i wish it had been animated now instead of 2006 -_-) and the writing, while weak in terms of plot holes at some points, always follows the same ideals, and takes a lot of really big, and i think brilliant, risks. light is one of the best protags of all time and i'd write a million essays abt it if i had the time.. it's a household name for a reason, peeps. i like the anime too, but it condenses a lot of the story in a way that does it a disservice. also, groundbreaking early 2000s low budget animation incoming >>
if you already like death note... i recommend munuo na nana and yuukuko no moriarty (credit to joyce-stick on youtube for these recs, i rlly loved them! check tht channel out pls, so underrated!!)
3. Dead Dead Demon's Dededede Destruction - interesting title, ik, but really give this manga a chance! it's just a really human story, even though there are fantastical elements (like, u know, the whole alien thing. not a spoiler btw lol). inio asano's art is absolutely incredible and i swear u could read this a million times and still keep finding all these tiny details included in every single panel, it's just such a worthwhile experience. the characters are so relatable even if their situation is anything but, and u find urself caring about them so deeply. if you are a teen or remember what it's like to be a teen, you'll definitely see a lot of yourself in this manga. no anime yet, but i hear it's being adapted (soo excited)
if you already like dead dead demon's etc. (lol)... i recommend oyasumi punpun and shoujo shuumatsu ryokou (found these recs on myanimelist, definitely good ones)
4. chainsaw man (OR ANYTHING BY FUJIMOTO) - honestly i have no words for this one except that u shld check it out urself. the fans can b kind of ehhhh but if u ignore all that and just get into it it's really, really brilliant. tatsuki fujimoto is incredible, honestly.
if you already like chainsaw man... pls just read everything tatsuki fujimoto has ever created lol
alright, i think i'm gonna end it here! i know it's technically only four recs, but i think i'll just do a series of blogposts if anybody wants any more (i doubt it ( ˃̣̣̥ω˂̣̣̥ ) lol). byee :>
