Let me set the scene.
It's a nice day in February 2020 and your stomach is aching of excitement. kill all your friends by my chemical romance is blasting in your headphones and you rush home, uncertain but ecstatic. today's the day! your dad is trying to get tickets for MCR while you're at school and can't get updates on how he's doing. you sent him dozens of messages beforehand, letting him know exactly what you need, where you want to stand and what the process will be like.
With that in mind you're hopeful and speed up. you take the first train you can get, hoping there won't be any delay. because you're kind of a masochist you tell him to not text you about whether he got the tickets or not. as soon as you get off the train you start sprinting home. usually it would be a solid 15 minute walk but you manage to get to your house in less than half of that time.
You slam open the door and scream into the hallway: "AND??", being scared he will tell you the bad news you don't want to hear. he peeps out of the doorway to the living room with a grin on his face.
"of course i got them".
it takes a few seconds until the realization sets in.
no. fucking. way.
as you screech and hop making your way towards your dad, going to hug him you already picture the perfect concert day in your head. getting to see your online friends AND your favorite band after their surprising reunion. what the actual fuck.
(spoiler alert: the concert gets postponed because of covid LMAO)
well. after 2 years I'm sitting here. 2 times my heart got shattered by the announcement that they will postpone the concert. but you know what? i think these two years helped me 1) mature and 2) genuinely prepare for the concert. it would've only been about 4 months to that concert and that is DEFINITELY not enough time.
It was kind of difficult to cope with waiting for such a long time, and ngl, I'm still scared something is going to intervene AGAIN and make me wait for another year. next year I'm doing my A levels so i definitely wouldn't be able to attend the concert. this is the one moment it should be and i really really REALLY hope nothing happens :''')
after 2 years now (jeez, I've been patient.) i still don't feel completely ready. but within this time span I've made more friends, kind of found myself and got to appreciate the subculture I'm a part of to the fullest.
After thinking about it for a while, yes. I'm thankful for the delay. even though i cried many tears about it, it's for the better. I'm seeing them June 21 in Bonn, Germany and honestly? i can't wait :)
are you also going to one of their concerts this tour? and what was your experience with these ups and downs?
