Yeah OK, been a little while since I posted on here. Not too too bad right? lol
Today's blog entry is featuring my 2020 24 hour road trip to Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin. I've been thinking about the Dells lately and really want to go back. Wisconsin Dells used to be my family's annual summer vacation spot up until around 2005. So 20 years straight, and almost every time staying at the Blackhawk Motel. Life changed dramatically after that. Starting to work full time, getting married, starting traditions with my new family. But my heart has always been in the Dells.
Since 2005 I've taken maybe a couple quick weekend trips up to the Dells and the Blackhawk. But in 2020, at a point where things were still pretty restricted in Illinois, my Mom and sister took an extended weekend, yep you guessed it, up at the Blackhawk. They had an extra bed. I was starved for some from travel. I had some extra time off work around the 4th of July weekend, and so I finally had an opportunity to vlog Wisconsin Dells on my channel!
I wanted to showcase the natural beauty of the Dells on my channel, showcase the Blackhawk Motel, but with an added twist. That being to travel solely on US Highway 12 from my current residency in Lake Zurich, Illinois, up to Wisconsin Dells. It took longer, many extra turns, but I did it. And I had a blast! Even though I was only up there about 24 hours, I had an amazing time!
That was the first time I drove up to Wisconsin Dells myself. And I'm thinking about doing it again. Even for just a daytrip! Now this is a little farther than my typical southeast Wisconsin vlogging daytrip, but with gas prices and generally everything more expensive right now, a multi-day Wisconsin Dells family vacation isn't top priority. I'm also saving my money for other vacation plans this summer and fall. It's hard to describe, but based on my past family vacation experiences, going to the Dells just for the day sounds so weird, yet so cool and adventurous at the same time!
