my experience on twitter

Oh boy this whole story/post was a long long LONG time coming.

If you read my last post about my fixations, I mentioned being on Wattpad first, and a blog post about what it was like there will come soon. But after that, I moved to Twitter, a good decision at the time, but one that would come to make me feel horrible.

The first fandom I joined on there was the Thomas Sanders fandom. That fandom was pretty well known for being super nice, wholesome, kind, and whatever the like, but OH GOD that was NOT what I experienced.

Never had a fanbase been more poisonous and toxic. They were so caught up with being the perfect fandom that they bashed people for the stupidest reasons- i once got bashed for calling a racist, maniuplative, abusive person in the fandom some rude names, which is absolutely RIDICULOUS. Not to mention people got angry at other people for not forgiving someone else who had been racist in the past. That’s right, a bunch of minorities were bashed by white people for not forgiving a racist person. Like, what?????

After I left that fandom, I joined bandom twitter, which was somehow even WORSE. People on there loved to backstab and mock others, as well as be insanely rude and terrible. Other times they would be super unfair and would be condescending, as well as ableist sometimes too. There was so much racism on that site, and I could hardly even take it some days. Once again, misunderstandings ran rampant, so I left the place… and ended up going to MCYT twitter.

However you think MCYT twitter was, I need you to multiply it by 5, then I think you’ll be close enough.

MCYT twitter was fun in some ways, but hell in way too many others. There was tons of fighting, drama EVERY. SINGLE. DAY., not to mention that drama would be on the trending page so dozens of people would constantly be seeing it, and judging the people on there. People were poisonous as hell, judging, and never let people change for the better. Not to mention there was a group of black people who used their platform to crush other nonwhite people (and another black person i.e. me) and loved to make people feel like hell. It was quite literally the world’s worst fandom experience, and left me with some lasting trauma and paranoia because oh boy oh boy.  I was scared of them hurting me somehow, it was the worst experience of my life and I never ever EVER want to go back.

I constantly felt as if I was walking on eggshells and like I could never breathe there. It was just nothing but stress and put my mental health in shambles.

Basically, Twitter is a hell of a place, I never ever want to go there again, and I feel much safer here on SpaceHey.

How about you guys? What experiences have you had on different social media sites/Twitter? Tell me about it in the comments below lol

You've heard my beef with twitter before, so i'll save that for now, but i'm sorry that site treated you so poorly. you didn't deserve to go through that and i'm glad you found your way out!
