Hey! It's me, Easton Legend. I may come back often to SpaceHey, but I also may never use it again. This is my Extended Bio, because it won't fit on my page.
First of all, who am I?
I'm Easton Legend. I'm 17 and I've spent several years honing my skills as an Animator. Since the Covid 19 pandemic started, I've been honing my skills as a musician. Since January 2020, I've also gotten pretty good with coding in HTML and just a little in Python. On top of all of this, I'm kind of good at writing, but you probably wouldn't think this through my blog. Oh yeah, I also make amateur films, too.
Why are you called Easton Legend?
What can I say? I'm a bit of a Legend!
What is your Profile Picture?
My profile picture was not originally a profile picture. It started as a promotional image for my band, DerpCore. The original picture was a selfie I took in front of a Kandinsky painting at the MoMA in New York. This must have stayed on my phone for months. To get our band on Spotify, we had to make accounts for DerpCore, and naturally, I ended up just making shitposts.
What stuff do you use?
- For Animating: Adobe Animate CC (or Macromedia Flash 8 for old stuff)
- For Music: Ableton Live 11 Suite (Education Edition)
- For Drawing: Tux Paint, Aseprite, and Fire Alpaca
- For Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro CC (or Davinci Resolve for old stuff)
- For VFX: Adobe After Effects CC
- For Web Design: Adobe Dreamweaver CC
- For Writing: Google Docs and Notebook
- For Graphing: Desmos
When I was a kid, the only way to get stuff for free was via piracy. Now they actually have really good software you can get either for free or really cheap. You have no excuse not to be creative.
- Website by my friend MegaCharlie that lets you download Legacy Flash Versions for free (Animation)
- Davinci Resolve (Editing Software)
- FireAlpaca (Good Drawing Software)
- PhotoPea (Literally Photoshop Free Browser version)
- Aseprite (Not free but 15$ and one of my favorite programs)
- OBS Studio (Free Screen Recorder)
What is DerpCore?
DerpCore is this band I did with my friend, Lander, who does the drums and guitars (and a lot more). It started out as a joke and I guess it still is, but certainly less of one. Most of my songs I make now are DerpCore songs. One thing I'm still not sure about is the style of DerpCore. Does the song genre change with every song or is it just the mood that changes?
Did you make your Profile Page yourself?
Yeah. Most of the patterns were made by me in Aseprite. The colors are the default Aseprite color palette because every video I can find on color theory is an hour long and I feel like it could all be summed up in like 5 minutes. The explosion gif was not made by me, but I'm pretty sure everything else was.
Before you go, are there any words of wisdom for the road?
I can't tell you what I'm doing right in life. I simply do not know. Although this may be the case, I can tell you what I did wrong.
Firstly, make friends with people, like-minded or otherwise.
Some of the greatest things I have ever done is make friends with like-minded people, and there is no better place to do it than on SpaceHey! I have been reading books since I was a young man, but some of life's most valuable lessons are not learned through text, but through friendship.
Secondly, use time wisely!
If there was anything I thought of as a kid, it was all the things I would be able to do as an adult. Driving, buying things, having a job. All of these things I wanted. Now that I'm 17, however, all I can think of is how much time I used to have back then. All of my time at home is spent doing homework and the breaks get shorter every year. So just don't waste the time you have. Also, enjoy your metabolism while you still can!
Lastly, read!
Knowledge is important. Awesome, too.
