The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys:National Anthem

!!SPOILER WARNING FOR THE BOOK XD!!

I just finished reading this and it's honestly SO AMAZING it's inclusive and touches on topics like losing a loved one, turmoil of feeling like you have no family and even a transgender character ! I will be writing about the story overall not really the plot because i totally recommend you read it for yourself. The story is semi-detached from california and danger days but has some aligned visual aspects along with mikes "bulletproof" shirt which reminds me of bulletproof heart from danger days  Gerard Way did say he wanted to do something new and different so the story doesn't exactly follow the rules of bat city and stuff but it has an over arching company that is tracking and trying to influence and change peoples lives through medication and media and general overall control. I recommend this to any killjoy fan but also any comic book fan because it's detached from the narrative and you don't need to know about the album and everything anyone can pick it up and give it a read through ! I absolutely adore Gerard Ways writing style in all of his stories (I've read all the killjoys, the first umbrella academy and plan on buying DOOM and borrowing umbrella academy from the library) and this is saying a lot because to be honest i was a past western comic book hater ! I literally can't stand DC or Marvel but because of manga and MCR's recommendations I'm getting more into it :D So if you're getting into comics GET THESE!!!! Gerard Way is also super LGBTQ+ inclusive with his writing with a lot of representation and in my opinion as an asian person nice POC inclusion basically there are not just Cis-het people which is always great also the art ? LITERALLY AMAZING even if you don't like the story the art is so colourful and captivating that you just can't put it down ! :000 I actually cried while reading this it's so beautiful. I recommend i swear it's so good I might go more in-depths in another post this is kind of more of an appreciation post <3333

i loved this so much!! literally my favorite book rn, i was sad to hear a lot of people didn't like it in comparison to the original killjoys (i haven't read those bc i haven't found it anywhere, where did you read/get them?) but genuinely cannot express my love for it enough!!! i was so happy for the trans representation too!!! i'm glad you liked it!!

I’m so glad I’m seeing somebody else talk about how good this book is, it’s literally one of my favorite books and gives me so much inspiration and I feel like nobody’s read it. And all the different kinds of representation and just how well it was all put together and the art style make it so good!
