Poem: "Crocus in the Snow"

Sweet girl, don't let your love bloom

like a crocus in the snow.
Please save your gentle heart
for someone warm.
Don't let your love bloom purple
with a sweet enduring sorrow.
Just wait for fragrant Spring
and you may keep your heart from harm.

I've seen your blue eyes follow him
just waiting for a sign.
I know the look of pleading,
"How I wish that you were mine!"
But know a crocus blooming
means more flow'rs will surely come,
and his frosty gaze won't hold you
when the man of Springtime comes.

Sweet girl, don't let your love bloom
like a crocus in the snow.
Please save your gentle heart
for someone warm.
Don't let your love bloom purple
with a sweet enduring sorrow.
Just wait for fragrant Spring
and you may keep your heart from harm.

I've seen the way he sweeps around
like Jack Frost, hard and nimble.
I've seen him blow cold kisses
to the ladies on the town.
I know you hope to melt his heart
and his cool sheen makes you tremble,
but when the roses bloom in Spring
you'll forget he was around.

Sweet girl, don't let your love bloom
like a crocus in the snow.
Please save your gentle heart
for someone warm.
Don't let your love bloom purple
with a sweet enduring sorrow.
Just wait for fragrant Spring
and you may keep your heart from harm.
Just wait- a man of spring will come
and he will keep you warm.
