Now that I'm done editing my fan cut of a movie, back to blogging about TV shows.
Again, taking a break from blogging about Kirby, I just got introduced to a new show yesterday and instantly fell in love with it.
Ya Boy Kongming. Go ahead, click on that video. I dare you. That song will not leave your head.
It's an anime about Kongming being reborn in modern-day Japan and ends
up befriending a girl named Eiko, who tries to make it big with her singing career.
The thing is, while the story seems like he's reborn or reincarnated, he's still
Kongming from 1800 years ago and knows nothing about the modern world at all. So I'm not sure being reborn really fits the description. Plus, he's reverted to his younger adult self. He just wakes up in an alley in Shibuya in modern day Japan. So it's also
a bit of fish out of water too. The Three Kingdoms are very much part
of the story indirectly.
Episode 1 starts by introducing Kongming's death and revival; how he meets Eiko, and falling in love with her singing. Her performance moved him so much that he agrees to be her tactician and help her make her music career grow. Eiko also helps Kongming get a job at the nightclub she works at. The boss of the nightclub is a huge Romance of the Three Kingdoms nut, and hires Kongming on the spot because he finally has someone to talk about the Three Kingdoms with. And just to add, nobody actually believes Kongming is who he says he is. Some people thinks he's a cosplayer, while others like Eiko know nothing about the Three Kingdoms. The show is wholesome and fun, with some great comedy. There are also nice moments where the show straight up talks about Romance of the Three Kingdoms. There's a heart breaking scene where Kongming reads about the fall of Shu on Wikipedia.
Episode 2 is where Kongming starts devising plans to help Eiko gain a following after she was invited by a big name singer to perform opposite of each other. It was a ploy to dominate the stage by playing opposite of an amateur like Eiko. Kongming and the boss of the nightclub sees through this plot, and Kongming finally puts his intelligence to use to cook up a plan to make Eiko sing in front of a big audience. Basically, it's the stone maze with a modern twist.
Needless to say, I am in love with this new show. I can't wait to see more!

it does sound cool, where is it streaming?
hopefully Hulu or Netflix, otherwise I'm SOL
It's on Hi-Dive. That said, it's only 5 bucks a month. You can wait until it's over, then binge the entire series.
