We were learning about art today in my cultural anthropology class, and one of the main forms of art is music. I'm majoring in anthropology because it's something I've always been passionate about, but I'm even more passionate about music. I've always wanted to study how music and culture interact but I didn't know what the field was called, if there even was one.
There is! And it's called ethnomusicology! There aren't any classes or programs that cover this specific field at my university as far as I know, but I'm minoring in music so hopefully that can get me somewhere!
Before now I've always just told people I wanted to be a music historian or something (which is still semi-accurate I guess), but now I actually have the word to describe what I actually want to do!!!!
