Chapter Eight

The mood is still awkward with Porcupine especially as I can still see the one-and-a-half-sen on his desk just collecting dust. The mood with Redshirt on the other hand is consistent as ever; it remains awkward and uncomfortable even as we chatted in his home later on. He told me about the school’s expectations of me as the new teacher and I couldn’t help but feel like they were pressuring me into something that I ultimately did not want to do. 

Just as I foreshadowed it, Redshirt then informed me about a possible raise as a teacher was being transferred to another location. As nosey as I am I had to ask who it was I’d be taking money from and to my surprise it was Pale Squash of all people! Considering he was my only friend here and the person who recommended me to my current living arrangement I adamantly refused the raise to the end. Redshirt didn’t appreciate that at all.
