Chapter Nine

I decided to take back the 1 ½ sen from Porcupine once I came to the conclusion that he is a much better person than I originally thought he was. Although it was probably awkward on his part he still came up to me and apologized for the rooming incident with the Ikagin’s. Even though it took me a lot of thought and time to get to this conclusion, upon handing me back the money Porcupine just started laughing. But it was in such a carefree manner that I starting sharing all my thoughts on the situation as if nothing had happened. To think I was beginning to dread coming to school over a scuffle that boiled over this fast. 

He soon told me he was from Aizu which definitely explains his stubbornness. We ended up talking all night about our thoughts on Redshirt and Pale Squash’s departure. To my surprise we shared much of the same thoughts and went to Pale Squash’s Farewell Party in unity. Porcupine gave a wonderful speech that I couldn’t wait to applaud but considering the awkward atmosphere i decided not to. He ought to have slandered Redshirt more eloquently so that the insults could reach his muddled brain. 

By the time the night turned dark, Hanger had gotten increasingly annoying to the point where I could do it no longer and ran out with Squash. 

I’ll consider this my first and last favor to the poor man.
