Gentrify The darkness holds beauty as it hides the ugly, that is if beauty is only the absence of ugly. Beauty conceals the ugly, beauty revels in the absence of ugly, beauty grips and holds on like a parasite where ugly should be, no, where ugly has been and was driven out, by the pretty pretty signs and buildings, blocking the culture of the thousands who’ve struggled, no their pain is not beautiful, it's real, they sell their struggle on supermarket shelves with a rose tinted plastic window on the package for a profit. Their savior complexes run rampant as they add more struggle in their shallow attempt to help, they watch on with false innocent teary eyes, moist with overpriced prepackaged water. They make the pain perfect to consume for an audience, not too much as to scare them away, but long after they’ve turned off their screens and rose tinted glasses, the struggle still exists, it never left to begin with for it was simply concealed in the darkness - Afrahna
