Originally, I was going to categorise this under 'pets and animals' since I thought hey, plants can technically be pets, right? But then I couldn't decide, so it's ending up under life, hehe.
I absolutely love keeping plants, when I get a place I can freely decorate, mark my words that plants will be everywhere. I really want hanging ones from the ceiling, perhaps the classic spider plant, or maybe a marble pothos. Many types of fern make great hanging plants too, as do plants like 'string of pearls' or 'string of nickels'! I also think that english ivy looks lovely as a hanging plant, but it's a rather invasive species, so you'd have to be careful to make sure it stays completely contained!
As of right now, I don't actually have any hanging plants, but I do have some succulents and a couple of cacti! I have a large short-leafed aloe who I named deborah - she's rather spiky, and very hardy and big! I also have a little green echeveria that flowers wonderfully each year! My favourite is a beautiful echeveria black prince that I named samson, he's huge and a fantastic plant! He always grows a ton of flowers each year, but he also has created many offspring that I was able to take and successfully raise by myself! I have three of his children still, and they have also become large healthy plants! There were another two, that I gave to friends as well since I don't have the room for soooo many!
At christmas, I also got a parlour palm as a gift, since I'd been talking about wanting one! I love lots of types of palms, they're very pretty plants! The parlour palm I have is about medium size right now, and I'm hoping I can grow it into a big one!
In the future, I'd love to grow some produce of my own, too. Growing my own carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, etc, would be so much fun and I think I would thoroughly enjoy it! I'd also absolutely love to grow my own camellia sinensis - better known as the plant that produces tea! Something like that would become really useful, I think - as would growing my own herbs as well!
It's kind of interesting since the majority of my family is notoriously terrible at keeping plants, and don't really have a green thumb at all. I'm not sure what it is, but I just seem to magically be great at taking care of them! It probably comes from the fact I love them a lot, and treat them almost as if they're some sort of pet. The good energy must help them to grow!
All that said, plants are just something I'm really really interested in! I felt like talking about them a bit. (^w^ )
