To the girl who won’t accept help,

I’ve watched you struggle for a year now. Your siblings have different fathers, all unknown. You’ve open called your mother all sorts of names, though I trust that she deserves it. I’ve listened to your family’s arguments and issues as you vent. Always purposely leaving out all sorts of details. You opened up to me.

 I watched carefully, your family issues slowly turn to take over you.

Your work becoming careless as you don’t believe you can do any better. Giving up quickly and refusing help.

I watched. “I can’t do it” “Stop trying to help me, you’re wasting your time”.

I watched as you slowly believed you wouldn’t make it past high school.

I watched as you sat. Confused. Angered. Annoyed. Aggravated.

When I told you I believed in you, you told me I shouldn’t.

At that moment I finally realised. You have to be open to help. You have to allow people to help you. But when will you see that?

You won’t grow up to be like your mother. You won’t live on the side of town you don’t let me walk past. You won’t be ashamed when you let me into your house. You won’t live like this if you’re determined and put in the work not to. I’m not trying to inspire you. I don’t even expect you to pay this any mind. I just want you to realise, you don’t have to be the way you are. You are able to learn and understand if you try. Friends trying to help you isn’t pity, its them being friends. I probably won’t show this to you. Because you’ll probably be mad at me for trying
