how does one become famous?

This is honest question as I am unsure of how people do it, I mean sure you have to put yourself out there but also there has to be some sort of secret. I don't mean I want to be a household name or a full on celebrity but it would be nice if I could amount to something and go to the supermarket and get someone recognise me from something that isn't school. Then again isn't that the dream for everyone, amount to something? There must be someone out there who just wants to be insignificant and not just resigned to the fact that they will be. 

I want to be the kind of girl that unpredictable and people thing, "What will Amy do next?" and I just come out with the most outrageous idea and people love it. I would appreciate any tips on my dream, thank you.
