The Reticulated Glass Frog!!

Yet another one of my favourite frogs, this cool little fella has a really awesome feature. 

It's completely transparent! 

Sure, it's a little gross when you think about the fact that you can see it's insides, but I still find it very cute. 

These guys are VERY small, they grow to about 2.5cm, or about 1inch

They live in the rain forests of Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia and Ecuador, and they're active at night. 

After mating, the female frog is not very interested in taking care of the eggs. She leaves a cluster of eggs, and then the male stays and takes care of them 24/7. The males get pretty territorial. According to the National Geographic, the male frogs are known to kick away wasps from the eggs! 

The Reticulated Glass Frog lives a surprisingly long time for such a fragile and small creature, they can live for up to 14 years. 

The conservation status of these guys are of the least concern, so they do pretty well :) 

The Glass Frog is a little bit tricky to take care of in captivity, but nothing you should worry about if you are an experienced froggy-care-taker! 

All in all, very cool frog.
