I like to feed the birds at my house. I also rescue earthworms.

When my kiddos are not home, and I am feeling a little lonely, it helps me to look out at the bird feeders and see that the birds are eating. I have one bird feeder that is for bluebirds, and it has a glass cup. I put dried meal worms in that cup. I have another bird feeder that holds sunflower seeds. I should call this one the squirrel feeder, because I only see squirrels at the sunflower seed feeder. I don't mind. Everyone deserves to eat. When my oldest kid was in preschool, we used to rescue earth worms who made it to the sidewalk after a rain. We threw them back in the grass so they wouldn't dry up. I guess it is okay that I rescue worms on some days and feed worms to the birds on other days. One of my greatest joys in life is that my kids are compassionate humans.
