During the scene when charlie finds out that he has won the golden ticket and Grandpa Joe discovers the good news, as charlies parents have entered the house through the front door Grandpa Joe rises from the bed and starts to do an excited, energetic dance. Everyone, including Charlie's parents, thought that grandpa Joe was bedridden and all it took was for a piece of good news for his to start dancing around the room. The entire family was in extreme poverty for the entirety of Charlie's life up to this point, having around two rooms in the whole of the house and the upstairs room in witch Charlie slept had rickety ass floorboards which could of resulted in serious harm or even death to either him or another family member living in the house. Charlie's parent's were doing whatever they could to support the family and Grandpa Joe could of gotten a job this whole time. The entire family regularly ate cabbage with nothing else as that was all that they could afford, there were 7 people living in the small home with four of them sleeping in one bed and doing nothing all day long, but these old people doing nothing to help the family was acceptable seeing as they were all unable to any sort of strenuous activity, but Joe......Joe could of has a job this whole time. Just because this man was let go from his original job at the chocolate factory due to the factories closing does not mean that he should not get another job after he was let go. You may be thinking 'well where was he supposed to get a job?' and to that i say the toothpaste factory. And yes you may be screaming at the screen, BUT CHARLIE'S FATHER WAS FIRED FROM THE TOOTHPASTE FACTORY WHEN THEY DEVELOPED HIGH TECH COST EFFECTIVE TOOTHPASTE LID SCREWER ONNERS TO REPLACE WORKERS DOING THIS BY HAND, EFFECTIVELY SAVING THE COMPANY MONEY THAT THEY COULD USE TO DEVELOP THE TOOTHPASTE FORMULA AND EFFECTIVENESS FOR A BRIGHTER SMILE AND AN ANIMAL CRUELTY FREE PRODUCT EFFECTIVELY BRINGING IN MORE MONEY AND GIVING THE COMPANY A BETTER NAME AND REPUTATION, and to that i say that grandpa Joe could of secured a job at the toothpaste factory while it was still going, his previous experience in the chocolate factory would of looked good on his resume meaning that the chances of him getting a decent paying job at the factory would of been quite large. But no. Joe is a selfish old man who only cares about himself and being served cabbage on hand and foot, day and night by charlie's parents. My second point is that Joe immediately told the others that it would be he who took Charlie to the factory, not even considering for a second that one of his hard working, non-bedridden faking parents would like to go with him, despite the fact that he used to work there and has literally seen the factory before as he used to work there ever day before he became selfish and decided he didn't want to work anymore and let his family take care of him. 'ohh i would like to see how the factory has changed and i would like to say hello to mr willy wanker' - 🤓, in the end mr wonker didn't even remember Joe. This goes to show that Grandpa Joe was the real villain of this story.Â
Why i absolutely HATE grandpa Joe from Charlie and the chocolate factory and you should too
