As a therianthrope (someone who identifies non-physically as non-human animal), I experience urges and instincts that do not align the human species. It's not like I don't have human urges and instincts, but I happen to experience things that the normal human being does not experience.
I have concluded my non-humanity to be attached to the Canis Lupus. The wolf. Along with another animal which is the Betta Splendens. My wolf self is the most dominant. Everyday life is frequently disturbed by non-human manners, or the urges to perform these manners, alongside episodes of disconnect with my human self, called a shift.
I often share these experiences through vlogs, as most may know me from my YouTube channel Therian Territory. There is a reason why this channel has this name. One of the strongest urge or instinct I experience would be to claim my own territory.
Recently I was blessed with the opportunity to move into an apartment close to a giant piece of forest. Before this, there was never a larger area of woods that my wolf self could claim. I was thrilled to find a forest full of amazing spaces that a very little amount of people entered. Its pathways were not placed by men, but created with the stream of people curious enough to explore the area. Yet it felt unclaimed and unwatched. The only people I see walking there are either walking their dog, or mountain biking as the pathways can be fairly steep. But none of them seem to use the area as one specific place, and rather see the area as part of a greater whole (as more pieces of forest are located around these borders).
The first time I went there, accompanied by my lovely girlfriend, I already meant to explore the place as a potential territory from then on. Claiming these spaces are so important to me that I had already seen the piece of woods on Google Maps, and it was only a matter of actually going there to find out if it was actually fit. I was not disappointed to find out the territory was a lot closer to my home than expected. And the travel there was more beautiful than expected.
I live in a small market square that has a set of houses over a century old. One of the houses has a arc, like a small tunnel that leads you out of the square. When going through that arc, the pathway, that is bordered by bushes and extends in a field of flowers, leads to a very small pond surrounded by trees. When turning to the right there and then follow the road outside the city, one will encounter an enormous bridge that the highway passes over. Going underneath that giant bridge will lead to the entrance of the forest. It's about a ten minute walk in total.
It didn't take much for me to officially call it my personal territory, my therian territory if you will. In this blog series I will write about the adventures I have in this wonderful peace of woods, and the therian experiences I have there.
