Listen to music based on a random word (Day 7)

Oops sorry I got a bit busy and forgot to continue, I should be on Day 10 but it's ok.

Original message:
"Since I missed a day I'm just gonna do another one today to compensate. I think I'm gonna do a little research on the artist as I'm listening to the song too, could be fun."

Random word: species

Song 1: Species of the Pod by Drexciya / Genre - Electro

Rating: 4.5/10

This song genuinely hurts my ears.

Drexciya were a electro duo from Detroit who in their lifespan, "became one of the most celebrated and influential names in American experimental techno." Their name Drexciya "was an underwater country populated by the unborn children of pregnant African women who were thrown off of slave ships; the babies had adapted to breathe underwater in their mothers' wombs" which is quite interesting as they were apparently one of the few groups to use techno as a political tool, which I couldn't find much about.

For the song, I was not too big of a fan as it literally hurt my ears to listen to it, not from the song being bad but from the pulsing sound present throughout the whole track which was not kind to my ears.

Didn't add to my playlist.

Song 2: Species of Property by Busdriver / Genre - Hip Hop

Rating: 7/10

Now I already know a little bit about Busdriver but anyways:

Busdriver is a Los Angeles rapper, characterized by his quick, literate, and "intellectual" lyrics. He is mostly known for his track Imaginary Places and Worlds to Run which features Milo and Anderson .Paak. Now sadly, there is controversy with him and 2 other artists (Zomby and Kool A.D.), with sexual assault allegations placed on them; I could not find a lot of concrete information but from what I could find it did not seem that he even directly acknowledged the allegations, so I'm going to refrain from really supporting him unless anyone can point me to him disproving or even at least denying them. (Not like Spotify listens really give any artists money anyways.)

A pretty good song with interesting lyrics and great production. And the monologue at the end of the song is thought provoking and interesting. One last thing I will say is you have to understand the concept of separating an artist from their music, artists like Morrissey are absolute dogshit people, but that doesn't mean that The Smiths are suddenly a terrible band. One has to accept that the person behind the music is terrible and you shouldn't support them but you can still listen to them, you can always download the music for free, and Spotify revenue is non-existent so it's quite easy to listen without supporting. And something you can do is support artists who would be put down by those artists, like supporting a British POC artist you enjoy instead of Morrissey  Just a thought.

Song 3: Slave Species of the Gods by Blood Incantation / Genre - Death Metal

Rating: 7/10

Blood Incantation are a Death Metal band from Denver, Colorado. There isn't much interesting information regarding them so I don't really know what else to say lol, "The band's lyrics mainly deal with topics such as space and death." that's cool :)

Song was good, I'm not really good at talking about Metal unless it's really unique so when it's just like good death metal I'm just like :) nice! yeah . awesome..!

Added to my playlist.

Song 4: Species by Krizz Kaliko / Genre - Hip Hop

Rating: 5.5/10

Krizz Kaliko is a rapper from Kansas City and long time friend and collaborator of fellow rapper Tech N9ne. Krizz Kaliko has both Vitiligo and Bipolar disorder both of which were names of one of his albums and one of his songs respectively.

The lyrics are very strange, definitely the worst part of the song but I really like the instrumental. Not my kind of hip-hop but I do like the production.

Song 5: Female of the Species by Space / Genre - Britpop(?)

Rating: 6.5/10

Space is a British band from Liverpool. That's all you need to know.

Not the biggest fan of the vocals specially the mixing but I really like the random orchestral flares during the chorus. As I keep listening the vocals are just really fucking quiet for some reason I'm not sure why it's a bit off-putting. I really vibe with the sort of chill beach feel (I don't know how to explain it.) The song is a bit bland but I do like it

wow this took a while to make, doing the little blurbs before is hard cause I get distracted so easily but I think it's nice so I'll keep doing it. I might try to do another one but I'll probably fall asleep, I do want to catch up though.

It was actually on there and I saw it but I think it went away since I already had Ummagumma on my library in Spotify lol, I sometimes skip some songs specially if I already know the artist/album.
