- Red Velvet Feel My Rhythm
OH MY, Red Velvet never disappoints (except when they do but we don't talk about it). This new album has no skips and the best song is no doubt BAMBOLEO. All the customs outfits worn are so stunning. The pink Démi Cheur outfits for the music box ballerina shoot are gorgeous. Giving the girls a ballerina concept is very smart considering the current trend of 'off-duty ballerina'. On top of this, the pearl accessories and shoes create this elegant, expensive look.
Focusing on the music video, I'm in love with all the art history references. I'm slightly biased though as my favourite rococo painting, The Swing (1767) can be seen recreated by Irene. Through out the mv there are multiple references to The Garden of Earthy Delights by Bosch, the most obvious being the use of strawberries and the fountain in the background of the dance sequences.
^^ The Swing by Jean-Honoré Fragonard
I definitely recommend looking into the countless inspirations for the shots as they may also help pin down the overall lore of Red Velvet's story. Although I was looking forward to a comeback similar to 'Psycho', I am more than happy with a homage to some of my favourite paintings.
Red Velvet has proved themselves to be a versatile and power-house group with Feel My Rhythm being no exception. If I were to have a dinner party with anyone in the world then I need to add their creative director to the table cause their music videos are just SO good. Red Velvet is always at their best when doing a dark and whimsical concept; Russian Roulette has 227 mil views for a reason. ᶘ ◕ᴥ◕ᶅ
