Can some one please explain to me why they are able to use the nickname of someone in school instead of their real name,but when i ask them to use my preferred name thats not possible.Cuz it makes no sense to me

Maybe somebody already uses it, or it's a bad word in Germany?
my preferred name is literally Ant and it really just means Ant as in the animal + i gave them the option to use Tony since i feel comfy with both of em. I dont think that should be a problem. I would understand it if i would've asked them to use that name everywhere (in all the "official stuff" yk) but im only aking them to call me that in class while idk they pick me when i wanna say smth.
