Golden, Oregon

Back in 2018 I went on a roadtrip to see Golden, Oregon after watching a Ghost Adventures episode on it.
The history behind the town was that it was settled in Wolf Creek, Josephine County in the 1840's when gold was discovered, overtime the town was abandoned and repopulated by Chinese miners, only for them to be ran out again when more miners returned with hydrolics.
There were two churches built but no saloon, miners would have to travel to closer towns in order to get their refreshments. There was also a school house built not that far away from the town. The church was built by Rev, William Ruble, who was the leader of the Campbellits, and shortly after he was ordained, the church became a Free Methodist Church. The school house would also be used for some services from time to time.
According to legend, people who tried to stay overnight at Golden would end up getting possessed by a demon. There were also rumors of Pagan rituals that would happen at or near the site of the ghost town. After watching their investigation on Golden I knew I wanted to go there as soon as possible to check it out for myself, and before I knew it I was on a roadtrip to Golden with my dad.
No I didn't stay the night there, I was way to chicken for that, and we were 8 hours away from home and my dad had work the next day. We did get to take some photos though, so enjoy the photo dump!

This is the remaining church in Golden which was rebuilt in the 1950's, along with other propertie like the schoolhouse for the show Bonanza.

And this is me standing at the Podium inside the church! Is someone standing to my right or is that just an old stain on the wall..?

I believe this was the priests home, I did actually get inside because I was able to fit through the small gap, but it wasn't safe in there so I left before I got any photos.

This is inside the store, my dad was able to get this photo by fitting his arm through a gao in the wall. Unfortunately a lot of the buildings were locked up for renovation when we got there... Including the schoolhouse

But they did a bad job of securing the school house and my rebellious 15 year old self got in through the front door! This was the prime of my grunge phase as well when I would rub black eyeshadow onto my eyes with my fingers and call it good. Don't be like 15 year old me when you visit ghost towns, please only go into where you're allowed, and obey no tresspassing signs! I doubt that I ruined anyone's future experience there, but I probably annoyed the workers beyond belief...
Anyways, if you're ever in south Oregon and have no idea what to do or where to travel too, give Golden Oregon a visit!! Follow it up with the Oregon Vortex!!

That is one awesome looking church. I visited an old abandoned church like that many years back here in PA but it wasn't open to explore inside and I can't remember where it is now.
