Frog Of The Day! 25-03/2022

The Amazon Milk Frog!
One of my personal favourites, this beautiful frog resides in the South American Rainforest, and makes a great pet.
They live for about 8 years, and are quite large, males grow to about 7cm, while females grow to about 10cm.
The Milk Frog is named after it's poison, that looks like milk, which is released from their skin when they're stressed.
They're also sometimes called the mission golden-eyed tree frog, because of their eyes, and the fact that they're known to live in trees.
The Milk Frog is a carnivore, and primarily eats insects and spiders, but they're not very picky as they will eat anything that fits in their mouths. In captivity, the females are known to eat the smaller males.

The tadpoles have their usual predators, but as fully grown adults, they don't have many natural predators. When a milk frog is stressed, they give off a very smelly and sticky substance, that warns predators quite well of the fact that they're poisonous.

They are not endangered, but the amount of Milk Frogs alive is unknown. The biggest threat they face is deforestation caused by humans.
