QUAKE (1996)
For a game that came out before I was born. I was pleasantly surprised with how much it's held up. The levels can be approached in many different ways to give a proper sense of exploration. The soundtrack is unnerving. Whilst not offering any ground-breaking scores. The feeling of dread that comes from the whispers in the audio sparks fear into those who listen. The weakest to me was the enemy design. Only near the end did the enemies get particularly strange. For a game featuring Eldritch beings, the game could have gone even crazier. Nightdive did a great job of making the game look modern. And with the extras too, the game is worth picking up on any platform you can find it on.
