incoherant ranting about microblogging and why i don't like it very much

For the past, say, 2-ish years i was active on various microblogging platforms ranging from twitter to any range of instances on the fediverse and in that time i've honestly never really realized how much short form posting dilutes the essence of an individual. When you've got a platform set up for shares and likes, it all becomes a bit of an exhausting rat race irrespective of if there's some sort of business making bank on your attention or not, and for a good while there i was reduced to how incomprehensible i could make my jokes in the pursuit of retweets and likes, never really being able to talk about anything in detail lest i hit some sort of arbitrary character limit or ruin the "flow" of a shitposty timeline. When considering the less than stellar impact the previous years' several month lockdowns has had on the way i communicate, i'm inclined to believe that short form shitposting (and instant messaging but without that i'd've gone insane long ago) made me worse for wear. Additionally, trying to maintain a blog separate from such ventures ends up being such ends up being massively inconvenient which i feel further adds to the difficulty of simply talking about stuff. It's weird that the "me" numerous people know/knew me online was no more than just a couple of funnies; it sucks that said people never really cared  about what i actually had to say.

Also, and this is likely just an issue with the platforms i used (i could go on and on about how angry activitypub compliant microblogging software makes me and i very well might do that one day), but, the concept of "follows" and "followers" is so stupid in my opinion. it corrupts intent, even if you try your best to ignore the funny little numbers it still tends to nag, ever present, a reminder that the people who acknowledge your existence is quantifiable. it somehow always still comes back to "who's following me?". While i can possibly forsee this becoming an issue here, i think the way spacehey's friends system operates (having it be a mutual agreement is quite nice in my opinion) in addition to the lack of "feedback" save for pretty much just replies to blog posts and bulletins would mitigate this.

I've still got some brainrot to work through but i think spacehey might be a nice change of pace for me.
