Glow-up posts

Any glow-up post necessarily implies you acknowledge that you looked less desirable before so why are they always framed as "they didn't want me back then but now they do." Like yeah? Astute observation? If you looked as good back then you wouldn't be making this post in the first place but you're mad no one went for the prototype version?
