Diary entry 5 - I might want to go back to school

- Tuesday - 22-03-2021 -

So today I had work at 2 PM more than enough time to first hang out with my boyfriend. Today it was very warm outside! 18 degrees (64 F) so I went to work without wearing a jacked, which always makes me happy, spring is my favorite season. Not too hot not too cold, like summer light but with more flowers! I had a short workday of 4 hours, but today I had a different manager than usual, Manager Boerenkool he has a baby face which makes him look like goofy from snowhite and the 7 dwarfs. He's very strict, but at least that gives order. He listed everything I had to do that day, which all went so fast that I disassociated, so I didn't remember anything he just said. I had to keep coming back to ask things. Also, he said that now that I have worked here for 2 weeks, they are going to take me more seriously and that I have to work faster. And I thought, HA- no. Like bro, I get paid my minimum wage if I work fast or slow. What's he gonna do? Fire me? Sure, there are like 50 other stores that I can easily work at. So yeah, ima just keep doing what I do.

So at work I was thinking of how much I do not want to be here and make a plan of what else I could do. I wanted to continue studying. I have a MBO-4 degree witch google said that that could be called "diploma of senior secondary vocational education" idk what that means. Schools work very different here as in other countries, but more about that another time.

In short about money tho, every time you do a study higher than your last study, the government pays you money to pay for the study. The amount of money is based on your parents income, if you live at home or not, and if you have brothers and sisters who are also studying. So if your parents both have no income, you have a shit ton of siblings studying, and you live by yourself you get the highest amount of money from the government. The amount of money I usually got was the same (sometimes a bit more or less) as what I had to pay for college. Going to college for 4 years here would cost you about 5.000, only about 1.200 per year. Since in corona time, schools were online and irregular, you only had to pay 600 per year. And when I finished my last study, I got a 500 bonus for finishing a study in corona times. Next to that, all students have free traveling with any public transport thou the whole country on weekdays. In weekends and holidays they get 40% off. And in this small country you can get everywhere with train and bus.

Oh, but the higher level you study the less money you get since they assume with such a high level degree you get a well paying job, and it will be easy to pay off later.

So I could now go to HBO witch would give me a bachelor or master degree. But all colleges over here are job colleges, you chose the job you want and go to school for that. So I was thinking about animal care in a zoo OR event planner. I already wanted to be an event planner when I finished higheschool since I like math, economy, organizing and ordering things and all. But I went to check out the school, and they told me I had to lean Spanish as part of the school. And in higheschool I got German and French witch i both sucked at, so i really didn't want to learn a language again. But now 5 years later I stared to teach myself German and it's a lot more fun. And my boyfriend has taught me a bit of Spanish (literally just some words i don't know any Spanish yet) so I think learning Spanish now would actually be fun. My second reason why I didn't go to that school then was because it was the kind of job where you have to put yourself in the marked and get paid per job instead of just working for a company. But now that I did video animation I already have that, so I guess. For working in a zoo, that has been a dream job since I was a small kid. But I will have to do more research to see how possible that is. why not study a higher level of the school I did? That's what I planned to do first go to higher animation school. But I got denied, they were probably full since it was already close to the deadline. Also, I didn't wanted to go to online school, so I wanted to wait for the corona rules to loosen before I started a school again. Also, at that school they're more about making a story, like animation short films and shows. And I just wanted to make informative animations. Which is very different, informative usually doesn't have characters and lore and shit.

But a positive thing about working this job is that I can ask for a holiday when I want, and that would come in handy with trying to see my boyfriend. If I am at a school, I will have to wait for school holidays. But I could also make a deal with the teachers, I mean my brother just asked 2 weeks off school, so he could travel to Korea. And school was like "okay as long as you have finished all your homework for those weeks before you go" so it's not the end of the world. As much as I want to meet my boyfriend, it shouldn't hold me back from going to collage and shit. he would also not like that.

But the event planner thing really seems fun. But since it's a high level I will need time and I don't think I can have a job next to that then. So I will work my full hours now, and then I will have enough money to pay for school and stuff. I do need to figure this out quick tho since 1st of May is the deadline to apply for colleges, and the closer to that deadline you are the more likely it's full. So on my next free day, ill spend time figuring this out.

Then after thinking all of this throughout my work shift I went back home, ate dinner, Stoofvlees and green beans (yes I ate my green beans with ketchup yes it was bussin). Then i went to the gym where i chatted with my boyfriends friend Cherub while i was on the treadmill, which was a lot of fun. Then I got home had yogurt, milk and ice cream. Cut my hair, so it looks nice again, it was getting a bit long at the sides and also the back was un even. Then I wrote all this and nor it's 11 PM, and I'm gonna take a shower and go to bed
