I brought an extra jacket today

I brought an extra jacket today. I knew you wouldn’t come to school, your head was throbbing all night. Even so, in case you changed your mind and came in just a t shirt like you always do I could give you a jacket. You’d fight me like you always do saying it’s not cold but your fingers feel like ice and I’d pout until you put it on. You’d put it on and I’d comment that you look extra cuddly like that and you’d throw your arm around me and we’d be all cute. None of that happened because you had a migraine and you were inside in the dark with your dogs. but it could have happened.
