Hi there and welcome back Chiaki's game review. Today we'll be taking a look at Rocket League made by Psyonix. A note before we begin, I am playing on the Nintendo Switch version as it's the only one I have but hopefully my review can still be accurate to the game.
The game is a very simple concept: playing soccer but with cars with boosters. The core gameplay is very strong and has a good learning curve. The only downside to the gameplay in my opinion is that the physics can feel a bit hard to really grapple with at times, but that might be my personal difficulties and it never really took away from my enjoyment.
There are multiple ways to play the game, whether in teams of 3 or solo 1v1, normal soccer or hockey or basketball, there's even a mode with crazy fun powerups. There is a lot more to do in the game than what meets the eye. The online play and tournaments are also a fun way to shake things up. I also personally enjoy the collectibles like car skins you can get in the game, it doesn't feel like you have grind for only aesthetic upgrades.
Overall, I think this game is great both on your own or with other people. It's an easy recommendation for people who enjoy a game that has both a casual and competitive side to it. I give this game a 9 out of 10.
