HIGHS AND LOWS

As the year comes to a close , I have to say that the highs were getting to play with DOA last February ( thanks Esther !) , and also the three nights we played with The Dayglos, BLKR , and the first show also with Mass Distraction in March, all thanks to the efforts and connections of Jay from BLKR . It was Victoria, Nanaimo, and Vancouver , and then a week later the entire world shut down. What a way to end civilization .

It was so much fun , and I had no idea the apocalypse was nigh.
The crowds weren't huge, but there were hugs from strangers, handshakes, and all sorts of things that are now considered anti-social terroristic acts. T-shirts and CDs were sold, and then everything came to a crashing fucking halt, which was one of the obvious lows ( to say the least) of the year.
We also lost legendary skateboarder Jeff Grosso . His Youtube show "Loveletters To Skateboarding" shows his charisma and love of all things skate related. Check it out if you haven't.
Also punk rock giant and possibly the best frontperson for a band of any genre that has ever lived , Chi Pig passed away far too early . I didn't know him personally, but he was close to several friends of mine , and his passing hit them hard.
The saddest part of the year for me personally was when Dave Del Castillo died, leaving four children and his wife behind. He was a truly gifted singer, having played in such bands as Onionhouse and The Uniks , and his love of soccer was unsurpassed. He had a wicked sense of humour , and I kept thinking I saw him around Christmastime , but of course it was all wishful thinking and mourning .
All I have left to say is that I hope 2021 is better for everyone .
