like tongues frozen to steel

everyone's miserable in august
we spend sleepless nights searching
clawing at the possibility of a collective understanding
as to why winter brings this sense of togetherness
when the sun sets and the colour is stripped away
we look to the lights and to each other and
to pills and pipes we'd be foolish to trust
you still flit around the corners of my vision
only difference is that i've lost the will to keep up
"make peace with being a passing glance"
but i refuse
the cold won't pry me from my ego this time around
we sail the same boat, hit the same iceberg
rest in peace, SS I'm Eighteen and I Am Immortal

if the winter doesn't kill me you're free to take it's place
xoxo, 4degreescelsius
