my dream last night - peitet and ida

this dream hit me hard af and i want to develop it into a story like maybe a little book or comic. this is copy and pasted from my notes right after i woke up so sorry if its kind of strange to read.

Ida is given peitet by their mother after she passed. Peitet was handed down through her grandma. They bring Peitet with them most everywhere and they bond nicely. Peitet stands up on her own and frightens ida, they try to push her back down, but Peitet resists and even screams at the effort. Peitet completely comes to life and is very aggressive with spending time with ida. While they were happy to spend time with Peitet before, her new aggressive attitude makes ida wary of her intentions and they try to run away. Ida runs to a family friend’s house to escape Peitet, but Grenna doesn’t understand the nature of Peitet and lets her in by accident. Grenna has already met doiman and thinks he’s very cute. She feeds him little cakes and he sits at the table and he seems very happy. He doesn’t do much but watch people and relish the interactions he gets, which is often. Peitet is sat next to doiman and she seems angry being near him, she doesn’t participate in anything like doiman does. She refuses cakes and won’t accept interactions that aren’t initiated by her and wants to get up and make her own interactions. While doiman is content just sitting here, maybe kicking his feet. Ida finds a pipe while Peitet is sitting with doiman and Grenna. They try to run and leave Peitet with Grenna, but Peitet notices and follows to the door with unnatural speed. Ida hits her with the pipe and shuts the door, running back to their home. Once there they try to figure out what Peitet and doiman are. They figure out they feed off love and they need their bonded person to survive. Peitet and doiman both had Ida’s mother at first, but after her passing, doiman was bonded to their mothers best friend and Peitet was bonded with Ida. Normally, love would be given freely and the doll and human would live peacefully together, like Grenna and doiman. Without their bond, they would shrink up and turn to dust. It seems like Peitet is scared of dying and so she turns to aggressive outbursts to try to initiate love. The fear she creates also has an effect. When given fear from the human, the bonded pair will no longer be symbiotic, but parasitic. Ida will be drained until she is nothing if Peitet is feed into too much. It seems like Peitet doesn’t understand the difference between receiving love and receiving fear, so she attempts to receive love while unknowingly receiving fear, and being fed either way, she pursues it further, not knowing the damage it causes to her bond. Ida goes back to find Peitet, to make their bond right, but as they open the door a small black cat is sitting at their doorstep. It transforms into Peitet as she lunges at ida. They have an epic battle in front of the house as Ida is trying to reason with Peitet and tell her they can still be together if she changes. Peitet is growing bigger and stronger and Ida is scared fighting her. Peitet pins ida down and they stop panicking and take a deep square breath. They look Peitet in the eyes and tell her they aren’t scared of her. Peitet shrinks back to her normal size. Ida looks at her now, the last remnants of their mother. Ida holds Peitet and tells her they can be together, that they do love Peitet, and they’re ready to help her. She continues shrinking past her normal size. She doesn’t know how to accept love anymore. And even if she did, she feels she’s broken the bond between her and Ida, and can’t accept their love. Ida holds her close, tells her encouraging words, cries as she shrinks smaller and smaller. They beg Peitet to accept the love, they understand why she did what she did now and it’s okay, they can still be together. Peitet looks up at them with the saddest, most honest eyes they’ve ever seen. At this point, she knows it’s too late. She’s not only sad at her broken bond, but now at her soon to be passing in front of what was supposed to be her new best friend.

Ending of the dream: Peitet disappears after a tear leaves her eyes and Ida is left truly alone. They go back to their house and realize it is now truly empty. They have to deal with the loss of not only their mother but now Peitet too, a support they didn’t even know they had until far too late. Eventually, they come to terms with their situation, and are able to live contently.

Ending I just made up bc that’s sad as shit: Peitet hugs ida, on the brink of turning into dust. She cries as she says goodbye to her best friend. Little does she know, she is growing back to normal size. She is only thinking of Ida at this point, unaware that her capacity to hug tighter and longer means that she still has life. Ida comforts her and brings her head up, smiling. Peitet is grounded with their smile and realizes she’s still here. They both cry and embrace. Ida happy and relieved that Peitet is able to still exist and learned how to accept true love. Peitet overjoyed that she is still alive and able to spend the rest of ida’s life with them. They look at each other and remember ida’s mother. They are able to live symbiotically and Peitet is never evil again. They cuddle up together for bed and in the morning ida makes chocolate chip pancakes and Peitet sits happily at the table with them and is overjoyed at the little bites of pancake she is given while ida eats.

peitet is the only name i remember accurately from the dream, the others are just kind of a combination of letters that feel right for the character. i remember peitet being green but also a clown at some point, so ive come to the conclusion that shes a frog clown. i know doiman was a black and white jester. there were a few characters that played the role of a friend and support, one of them was more of an equal to ida, being younger, and her thing was having red hair. grenna is ida's mother's friend and offered help ida after their mother's passing with housing or a job as she owns her own shop. ive combined these support characters into grenna, a red haired shop owner and long time friend of ida's mom.

honestly, i fell in love with peitet while writing this. if nothing else, i kind of want to make her so i can hold and love her
