what is up fellow beings of (semi) sentience hope you're feeling ok !
im looking for horror/thriller/whatever movies that don't try to scare me with cheap tactics like jumpscares etc. that shit just bores me to death. i would love to hear y'all's suggestions !!!!
i personally was super creeped out by it follows (bc it's so? i don't wanna say realistic but it's just verging on being realistic it's just super uncanny) and wounds (again, bc it just had that super weird vibe to it, especially that scene with garrett and his head phasing in and out of reality on the bed lol). although they didn't really scare me, hereditary and midsommar were nice too just bc i felt like there was lotsa weird ass lore going on and it made me feel uneasy. hope my examples helped to grasp what vibe i'm going for lol

Lake Mungo, Noroi are really effective ones. Then there’s They Look Like People (micro budget movie that’s really well done). Ghostwatch ( super interesting, a BBC pseudo-documentary that was banned from airing for years.) Alien (1979), Sinister, The VVitch.
Runner up because it’s one of my all time favs, 10 Cloverfield Lane, subtle horror that never likes to show the audience too much, then a third act that becomes completely insane.
