The sunlight casts itself onto the deck of this little sailboat
It shines a million colors through you
My heart melts at the thought:
I'll never see you again
Wind drives the sails, dragging us along the surface
In silence we glide through the heavy summer air
Tears dent the crashing waves below
The memories of you
Begin to fade
Wind, crystal clear and ruthless
As much as my disbelief battles for oblivion
The coursing currents are unforgiving
You, unlike me, are directionless
You, unlike me, long to lose yourself
Your love resides in the wonder of drifting
Wherever the waves crash
Wherever the coast breaks
If you had your way
If i could not stop you
Mighty waves would drift you away
Away from the world
Away from yourself
Away from me
Rattling of shattered sails interrupting my grief
A plane flies overhead, dividing the sky with a trail of pink smoke
I never lost you
I never had you to begin with
The raindrops begin to pluck
Against the deck of this little sailboat
Clouds break to the roars of the sky
Oh the way something I never had, was so easily taken away
Now all i am is your absence
Floating among driftwood
Now i too am lost
I could live the rest of my life on this boat
