According to Wikipedia, "Terror in Resonance, also known as Terror in Tokyo, is a Japanese anime television series produced by MAPPA." Now, this studio has made other great and notable animes such as Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen, andΒ Yuri!!! on Ice. One day, I was looking for recommendations and searched for specifically MAPPA animes and found Terror in Resonance.

Firstly, the Terror in Resonance's intro slaps in like a melancholy, ear worm kind of way. It really sets up the energy for the storyline. Honestly. I skipped it often because I'd rather not be depressed when watching anime.

Our protagonists, Nine and Twelve, are literal terrorists …. but like, they have trauma so it's okay, right? Because the boys were used in a secret pharmaceutical experiment, they wanted to use terrorism attacks (with no causalities) to bring awareness to the experiments. As a watcher, it is interesting to slowly gain sympathy and come to understand their tragic backstories.Β

But, the ending :( I understand their purpose was to expose the secrets of the experiments no matter what even if they were to d*e in the process.Β

My favorite part is the companionship which forms between Lisa and Twelve. It is a romantic tragedy. In the last episode, Twelve thanks Lisa for saving him and for showing him that he truly wants to live a normal life. His character shows remorse for his actions and he not longer wants to seek vengeance in the form of terrorism. But, its too late. He is a victim too.

So, what should we take from this anime?Β
Everyone is the biproduct of their environment. Trauma does not excuse actions. It just gives explanation.

Thanks for reading! Did you enjoy Terror in Resonance? Let me know.
