Ever since I was 4 I've wanted a "MySpace" page.
I'd watch my mom change her layouts and post photos wishing I was able to customize my own.
Unfortunately, by the time I was of age to join, the masses had moved on to new frontiers.
Facebook
Instagram
Snapchat
TikTok
Always a new thing, always on your phone- never customizable.
I felt I was robbed. Stifled. Doomed to the superficialities that cloud the social medias of our modern era.
Then, on TikTok funny enough, I heard about this site.
I was astonished that my nostalgia for this sort of website was shared.
But even more astonished to find that it seems to struggle with retention of users for extended periods of time. I don't doubt that there is a large crowd regularly logging on, but I also have discovered that many profiles seem left to rot.
User last active 2 months, 5 months, 1 year ago.
Their profile entombed, and preserved by the infinity that is the internet.
I've only been a user for about a day now, so no use in complaining about "finding friends" when I haven't even commented on a forum or interacted in a group.
Because ultimately I'm thankful this site exists. It satisfies my inner child in ways I couldn't of even predicted.
